American Beauty Peace Rose "Many of you know that I find inspiration for quilt designs on floors. This particular one came from a lovely place where we stayed in Ireland called the Irish Manor. I asked the receptionist if she minded if I took a photo of the tile floor in the lobby. She responded that I could do that and asked if I had seen the floor in the pub. I hadn’t. The floor in the pub coordinated with the lobby floor and was a more interesting pattern. The lobby was a pretty basic Ohio Star (in Ireland??) but the pub floor—well, I thought it was pretty special. As I work on quilts I usually name them. The Peace Rose was developed during the Eisenhower Administration I believe. It is a pretty rose and my mother fell in love with it at that time. Even though the Peace Rose is a creamy color and the roses in the fabric are red-orange I thought it would be a good name for the quilt." |

| Coverlet The coverlet fabric was designed by my friends Polly Minick and Laurie Simpson and seemed perfect for making a spread to use as a backdrop for this quilt and others I have. My coverlet will be the red to go with my new red iron bed frame. |

Jane designed this variation of her "Isn't It Rich" quilt for the fall 2009 retreat in Philipsburg. Philipsburg has an amazing candy store, and she based the colors of this quilt on a stained glass window there. The row design of the quilt allows for easy upsizing if you need a larger quilt. This quilt features a rare and collectible travel poster from a series of posters by the Northern Pacific Railway in the 1930's. The NPRR was called the "Yellowstone Park Line." Gustav Krollmann was a German emigrant who settled in St. Paul, MN and worked as a staff artist for the NPRR. He is recognized as one of the finest poster artists of his time and his original posters are highly sought after. Jane had the poster printed on fabric and integrated it into a railroad tracks pattern of her own design. Her quilt was honored as the Photo Finish in the September 2006 issue of The Quilter Magazine. This issue also featured QIC's Day in the Country and Outdoor Quilt Show. Split Nine Patch
Jane's friend Wendy made a darling quilt for her grandson. She originally learned this pattern in a class at QIC (where the idea was to only speak Spanish in class) taught by Pat Coble. Pat was really creative in coming up with this alternative method that begins with a 9-patch to save time. We have the kits available with either a jungle motif fabric (top picture) or cars (bottom picture). The kit includes the pattern and fabrics for top, borders and binding. This would be an easy pattern to adapt to other sizes as needed.
